cronable
Jira integration

Jira automation that triages before standup.

Cronable reads Jira with the JQL your team already writes, files issues from alerts and forms, and reacts when an issue is created or moves. Comments and descriptions are plain text; Cronable converts them to Jira’s document format for you.

One workflow, end to end

A Jira workflow on the canvas

Each card is one job. A wire means the next job runs when the one before it succeeds, or when it fails.

Or type it to the assistant

“When a new bug is created in Jira, have Claude suggest a first plan of attack and add it as a comment.”

What you can do

Every Jira step Cronable ships

Actions

Steps a workflow can take in Jira.
  • Search issues

Find issues with any JQL query, up to 100 per run.

  • Get an issue

Read one issue by key, such as OPS-142.

  • Create an issue

File an issue in a project with a summary, issue type and description.

  • Add a comment

Comment on an issue in plain text.

  • Check the account

Confirm which Atlassian account the token belongs to.

  • Custom request

Any other Jira Cloud REST endpoint, such as a transition.

Triggers

What starts a Jira workflow.
  • Jira webhook events

Create a webhook in Jira pointed at the job’s hook URL, and every event it sends starts a run: an issue created, updated or transitioned, a comment added. Set a secret on the webhook and Cronable verifies each delivery.

Popular workflows

Jira workflows worth automating first

01

AI first response on new bugs

A new issue fires the Jira trigger, Claude reads the summary and suggests a plan of attack, and a Jira job posts it as a comment for the assignee.

02

Alerts become tickets

When an uptime check or a nightly job fails, its failure handler creates a Jira issue with the error output in the description.

03

Standup summary

Search for issues updated yesterday each morning and post a short, grouped summary to Slack or Microsoft Teams.

04

Stale ticket sweep

A weekly JQL search finds issues untouched for 30 days and comments on each, asking the assignee for an update.

How you connect

Connecting Jira

Jira Cloud connects with your Atlassian email and an API token. Nothing to install in Jira.

  1. 1Create an API token in your Atlassian account settings.
  2. 2Store your email and the token as a username-and-password credential, and set your site (yourteam.atlassian.net) on the job.
  3. 3For the trigger, add a webhook under Jira settings → System → WebHooks with the job’s hook URL. Inbound webhooks arrive through Cronable’s relay, from the Basic plan.
Why Cronable

Your Jira automation, on your own machine

Runs on your own machine

Install Cronable as a Mac or Windows app, or on a server you own. Your Jira jobs, secrets and run history stay on that machine by default.

Built from one sentence

Describe the workflow in plain English and the built-in assistant builds the jobs, the schedule and the failure handling for you to review on the canvas. On every plan, including Free.

Unlimited runs

Plans count the jobs you define, not how often they fire. A job that touches Jira every hour costs the same as one that runs once a month.

Credentials encrypted locally

Keys and tokens are AES-256-GCM encrypted in a local database, referenced from jobs by name and masked out of logs and run output.

Questions

Jira automation, answered

Can Cronable create Jira issues?

Yes. It creates issues, adds comments, searches with JQL, reads an issue by key and calls any other Jira Cloud endpoint with a custom request.

Does it work with Jira Cloud and Jira Server?

The Jira integration targets Jira Cloud’s REST API, signing in with your Atlassian email and an API token.

Where is my Atlassian API token stored?

Encrypted in the credential store on your own machine. Jobs refer to it by name, and it is masked in run logs.

Can a Jira event start a workflow?

Yes. Point a Jira webhook at the trigger’s hook URL and each issue or comment event starts a run, with the full payload available to the next step.

Do I have to write Atlassian Document Format?

No. Type plain text in a description or comment and Cronable wraps it in Atlassian Document Format before sending.

Anything you do twice in Jira is cronable.

The tickets you triage the same way every morning are cronable.
